I've been reading too many articles about the HeForShe movement. To my readers who haven't heard about it, please click the HeForShe link above. Basically it's a solidarity movement for gender equality that brings together one half of humanity in support of the other of humanity, for the entirety of humanity."
Like what Emma Watson said in her speech at the United Nations: "If men don't have to be aggressive in order to be accepted, women won't feel compelled to be submissive. If men don't have to control, women won't have to be controlled. Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong. ... It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum, not as two opposing sets of ideals."
Also loved how she questioned the demonization of the term "feminism". A very striking excerpt from her speech: "Why has the word become such an uncomfortable one? I think it is right I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decisions that will affect my life. I think it is right that socially, I am afforded the same respect as men".
It's about time we push for this. Enough of this inequality in the society and let's break these boundaries in the roles of a man and a woman. Really inspired by Emma Watson's speech. Read up everyone.
